"The story of an unjustly imprisoned peasant who escapes to exact his revenge on a corrupt family of rich landholders.

"Wilderness" mixes elements of didactic social naturalism, modern expressionism (particularly O'Neill' "Emperor Jones" ), Asian animism and a cosmic sense of destiny that evokes Greek tragedy. The production , directed by Lilli Liang with a striking  expressionist set by Robert Klingelhoefer can suggest the experience of watching a dubbed foreign film....but the interpretation is cleanly focused and generally involving.
