Pericles - Directed by Cornel Gabara - Lights by Alan McEwen - Costumes by Mary McClung

WVU School of Theatre & Dance - 2018

With travel to many countries and two shipwrecks, a live burial at sea, Pericles is one of Shakespeare's most complicated plays. The design attempted to use selective pieces that were of Shakespeare's time as well as modern. The floor was a labyrinth, a maze-like pattern intended for spiritual growth. This was superimposed over a sea image and became  map-like. Completing the basic set were red and white cords that criss-crossed above the stage and an arc of roman and arabic numbers.that supported the cartographic look.
